This article will show you how to setup MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) or Two-Step Verification for your Planning Center account. 


1. Login to Planning Center and select your profile picture in the top right-hand corner as shown in the screenshot below. 




2. Select "My login settings"



3.  Select "Enable two-step verification" 



4. At the next screen, you will choose between using the Authenticator App or a text message to your cell phone. It is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED that staff members choose to use your Microsoft Authenticator app or 1Password App if you have an account. If you are not a staff member, you can use any third-party authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Trello or you can set up a text message code by selecting "Text Message" and then proceeding to Step 5B at the bottom of this page. 



5A. Authenticator App or 1Password

            1. If you selected "Authenticator App," you will see the screen below. If you select "Text Message," please proceed to step 5B near the bottom of this page. 

            



             2A. Microsoft Authenticator

                    If you're a staff member and have a 1Password account, we recommend that you use it for your one-time password, but if you don't have one, please use the Microsoft Authenticator app.  If you choose to use                              Microsoft Authenticator app, please open the app and select the plus sign in the upper right-hand corner to add account and then proceed to Step 3. (For security reasons, the app will not allow screenshots to be                         taken.) 

             2B. 1Password 

                   To setup your One-Time Code for 1Password, please find your Planning Center account info in 1Password or create one if it's not there already. Select edit and then scroll down and select "+ add more" and                                then select "One-Time Passcode" as shown in the screenshot below.  


   


             2B-1. Select the QR scanner button as shown in the screenshot below. 



             2B-2. After selecting the QR scanner button, the app will automatically scan the QR code open in the Planning Center window and autofill the 1Password one-time passcode field. Please copy the one-time password                           in 1Password and paste into the box 3 as shown in the screenshot in Step 5A -1 and then proceed to Step 5A - 6. 

                

             2C. Third Party Authenticator App

                    Please refer to your apps knowledgebase articles on how to add one-time password to your account. If you have difficulties proceeding from here, please contact us by calling the church office. 

             3. The app will ask you "What kind of account are you adding?" Please select "Other account (Google, Facebook, etc.) 

             4. The camera will open on the app. Use it to scan the QR code shown in the screenshot in step 5A 1.

             5. The account will be added to your list in the app. Please open up your Planning Center account in the app and enter the "One-time password code" into the box under "3. Enter the generated code" as seen in the                        screenshot above and select "Confirm Code." 

             6. The next screen will show you that you have successfully activated Two-Step Verification and show you an emergency backup code. Please copy and paste that code into a Word document and store in your                                documents. 1Password users, please store the backup code as a text along with your Planning Center account info. Once you have recorded the emergency backup code, you can click "Continue to Planning                           Center" and you have completed all the steps needed. 


5B.Text Message

            1. If you selected "Text Message," you will see the screen below. Please enter your phone number and select "Send Code Now" 

            2. You will be send a text with a code to your cell phone. Please enter that code into the box and select "Confirm Code" 

            3. The next screen will show you that you have successfully activated Two-Step Verification and show you an emergency backup code. Please copy and paste that code into a Word document and store in your                                documents. Once you have recorded the emergency backup code, you can click "Continue to Planning Center" and you have completed all the steps needed.
