How to use Windows Snap

Windows 11 by default features the Taskbar in the center of the screen. To change the Taskbar from the Center to the left hand side follow these instructions:

Note: all pictures in this Knowledge base article were taken using a Virtual Environment. Your background will not match what is shown in this article, but is the same Windows 11.

  1. Right-click on the taskbar in an empty area (right-clicking on an icon in the taskbar brings up the application menu to unpin, etc.) This will bring up a shortcut for taskbar settings.
  2. Click on “Taskbar settings”
  3. Scroll down until you see “Taskbar behaviors” settings
  4. Click on “Taskbar Behaviors”
  5. Click on Center
  6. Click on Left
  7. Close out the settings menu

The taskbar should now look like this:

From this:

The Start menu will also now appear in the lef-hand corner of the screen as well, this is expected.

The Start menu will appear in the left-hand corner of all connected displays as well, if you have a multi-montior set up. Windows 11 does not allow for indvidual displays to change the orientation of the start menu.
